I like that these people count all living creatures, not just people, in their population census. i hope we evolve in that direction. The descriptions of footnotes, meter maids, senators, and long legal sentences made me laugh out loud… Very funny, very trenchant. And then the footnote at the end adds an entire additional layer. Great piece.
